AVE developed the original VSI in the 1980’s as a solution to help retailers stop employee theft at the point of sale. It works by superimposing cash register transaction information right on the surveillance video that was covering the cash register.  The ability to review security video and verify if the correct amount was charge for a sold item was a game changer for retailers since they lose 1% - 5% to employee theft.
